You would think that being a wedding planner would be a great opportunity to see people at their best. After all, what is more beautiful than young love? Nevertheless, the truth is far from pleasant. Some people have been dreaming of the ideal wedding location since they were five years old. Others are even worse, having a specific vision of what the toasts will be about, and what everyone will say about them. Basically, weddings are an opportunity for unbridled vanity and childishness. Strangely enough, the most difficult part of planning a wedding is picking the location. Once you have picked wedding locations, you are halfway there. You wouldn’t think it would be that hard. You would think that people would consider factors of climate, for example, to decide on wedding reception locations. In this business, you always need to have a backup plan, after all. If, for example, you want to have an outdoor wedding in Portland during the rainy season, you had better make sure that it is nowhere near the coast, and you had better make sure that you have a backup hall rented just in case.

Throughout the years, controversy has been brewing on the topic of ventless gas heaters. On one side, ventless gas heater manufacturer’s claim these heaters are highly energy-efficient and safe. On the other side, scientists claim ventless gas heaters can produce toxic emissions that make occupants sick. Somewhere in the middle, architects debate as to whether ventless gas heaters degrade building structures. It’s definitely a hot topic — no pun intended!
Ventless gas heaters have been widely used in Europe for years. Those approved by Underwriters Laboratories comply with building codes in 42 out of 50 U.S. states. The problem is that ventless gas appliances emit water vapor and toxic gas emissions into the space where it is installed. These toxic gases can build up to a level that could become dangerous to the occupants.
The controversy began in 1983 when Greg Traynor, a former indoor air quality researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and six other Department of Energy researchers reported that “ventless gas heaters pose a potential threat to the health of occupants in houses where such appliances are used.”
Mike Calderrera of the Gas Appliance Manufacturers Associations (GAMA) states that ventless gas heaters have built-in safety measures to guard against toxic emissions. According to Calderrera, “Every heater since 1980 has been required to have an oxygen depletion sensor (ODS). This has certainly improved safety.”
Ken Maitland, Director of Engineering for Fireplace Manufacturers Incorporated (FMI) states; “I believe as an engineer that they are safe, if designed correctly and the ODS is installed.”

Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for women in the United States. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 214,000 women were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. Women now face a 1 in 8 chance of developing breast cancer at some point in their life.
The human breast is a gland that is composed of milk ducts, lobes, fatty tissue, and a network of lymphatic vessels. Cancerous tumors can develop in any part of the breast. These tumors can be detected through self-examination, mammograms or thermal imaging.
The majority of lumps discovered in the breast are cysts or fibroid masses. A lump that seems to be growing or does not move may be cancerous, or it may be caused by fibrocystic changes during the menstrual cycle.
If a lump is discovered, a biopsy is required to determine if it is cancerous or benign. In addition to tumors, breast cancer can cause a yellow, bloody, or clear discharge from the nipple.

I grew up in a family that loved to spend time outdoors. We grew up on a dairy farm, so many of our chores were done outside. My main job was helping with the large vegetable garden and mowing the lawn. My parent’s yard was beautiful. After working hard all day we loved to spend time sitting in the yard and enjoying the beauty around us.
When I went to college I missed the time that I was able to spend outside. I was quite a distance from home so I was not able to spend very much time on the farm. My roommate was from a family that did a great deal of camping. She invited me to come on a camping trip at a state park near the campus. This was my first time camping and I knew before the end of the weekend that I had found a new passion. I loved setting up the camp, building a fire and cooking outdoors. My love of camping still exists. My husband and I along with our children have spent many weekends in numerous state parks and campgrounds. We have developed a routine in setting up camp which is very efficient. One of the biggest challenges while camping is keeping things dry. We have tried many water proof cases through the years and have finally found some that truly do keep the water out.
When looking for water proof cases it is important to check how the case closes. It is usually at the closure that they tend to leak. The best water proof cases we have found have a separate lid that completely fits over the top of the lower half of the case. This prevents leakage that is often present with the hinged containers we have tried. Through the years we have learned that rain showers can happen at anytime so we now pack our sleeping bags into the water proof cases whenever we leave the campsite. Other wet items can be dealt with as long as you have a dry sleeping bag to crawl into at night. The routine is to bring your sleeping bag out of the tent when you get up in the morning and hang it on the clothes line to air out. Right before we head out on a hike, swim or canoe trip we pack the bags into the water proof cases. We always make sure that there is an extra book of matches in the bottom of the case also so that we have dry matches to start a fire with. These two things help to make a more comfortable camping trip.
